Description
Not sure whether to put this in the photography section or not. This is a close-up of the texture I made for my entry The Artistic Journey:
Other close-ups:
This was initially going to be a much darker version of Just Around the River Bend based off my fears in What to do with my life? However, as I painted it got more fun and interesting as I was playing around with texture and techniques. The background was scraped onto the canvas paper with a palette knife. The mountains were made with a blend of acrylic paint and impasto being pulled upwards with a palette knife. The little robot/astronaut/whatever you interpret it to be has made with painted blu-tack, a nob off a watch and some scrap wire. Yeah, blu-tack probably wasn't the best sculpting material but didn't have any fimo on hand. Maybe I should have tried salt dough.
Constructive criticism of composition and technique appreciated.
