Winter Tree

Hi this is my entry for 's Winter Contest [link] and 's [link] The Winter theme is really goind round huh? Wish me luck.

This is a concept I came up with while I was in Albany. My brother mentioned there was a tourist thing called the Diamond Tree and I was going to draw that... before noticing I was crap at drawing diamonds. So I drew this magic winter tree instead. Its leaves are snow and it sheds them during winter so there is snow for children to enjoy.

Well, that's the concept anyway. I really screwed up the kid, she looks off and this is actually the first piece entirely made of watercolours - something that intimidate me a little. I used the masking fluid for the fast time, although I managed to rip a few chunk of the paper off :S. Originally I coloured the girl and the tree in pencil. [link] I kinda ruined it a little but I'll hopefully get better at it. I used a candle to do the snow Technique I learned from good ole Art Attack, anyone remember that show? Scanner screwed it up a little though

I wouldn't mind some constructive criticism on the tree. It was drawn using techniques I learned from Art Attack I would like constructive criticism on the way it was shaded because it didn't look brilliant to me and texture.
